Many Contra Costa families, including more than 47% of single mothers, don’t earn enough to meet their families’ basic needs for food, housing, healthcare, childcare, and transportation. How would you turn your life around if you didn’t have the education, experience and stability to get a job that could meet basic needs?
"When I was at the lowest point in my life, Opportunity Junction supported me and showed me how to tackle the world," says Shaunette Buchanan. "Now I can provide for my kids and give them the attention they deserve.”
Shaunette, a mother of two young sons, is now employed full-time in an adminstrative position using the skills she gained in the Job Training and Placement Program.
