OPTIC provides ongoing follow-up and support to alumni of the program:

Mentor Program: OPTIC's Mentor Program provides professional, educational, and emotional support to assist OPTIC graduates who are entering the workforce. The mentor program provides graduates with the opportunity to interact with a professional in the graduate's field of interest. The goal of this program is to match all OPTIC graduates with professionals who will help them stay focused on professional growth, expand their interests, and build their confidence.

Alumni Meetings: Quarterly alumni meetings provide alumni with updated information regarding the technology and business worlds. At these quarterly meetings, Bay Area professionals come in to share their expertise and career histories as an additional educational tool for the alumni. Some of the topics discussed include: balancing your career and family, stress management, money management, investment options, diversity in the workplace, and conflict resolution.

Alumni Center: Alumni are invited to use the computers in OPTIC's Alumni Center, which is also set up with a fax machine and voicemail. The Alumni Center computers have a high-speed Internet connection, training software, and access to server space for storage of job search and training materials.

Case Management: Alumni are eligible for continuing case management and career counseling with our Alumni Services Coordinator, who also performs routine follow-up with recent alumni.

Mental Health Services and Support: Alumni are encouraged to use the services of OPTIC's Director of Mental Health Services as they adjust to new circumstances in their lives. Alumni may receive counseling and referrals, and they may participate in a monthly support group for OPTIC alumni.
