The Opportunity Junction Job Training and Placement Program begins new classes three times a year, in January, May, and October. We begin taking applications for the next class on Monday, May 3, 2010, and the next class begins in June. You can link to our full schedule here or click here for a monthly calendar of classes.

What to do if you want to apply for the Job Training and Placement Program:
  • Get the 4-page application packet by coming to our office at 3102 Delta Fair Blvd., Antioch, or Click here to view and/or print it, or call 925-776-1133.
  • Are you a CalWORKs participant? Let your worker know that you're interested in our program.
  • Not a CalWORKs participant? Register at an EASTBAY Works One-Stop Career Center and begin the process of applying for training services. (See the page titled “Apply for Training” in your application packet.)
  • Come to an Information/Application Session. Come to our office by 9:55 a.m. on any of these dates in May 2010 to apply for the class that begins June 1:
    • Monday May 3, 10 a.m.
    • Monday May 10, 10 a.m.
    • Monday May 17, 10 a.m.
    • Plan to be here for two hours, beginning with an informational presentation that takes 30- 45 minutes and should answer most of your questions about the program. You can ask questions and get personal advice about whether the program would be a good fit for you.
    • What to bring to the application session (if you can):
      • Any paperwork sent by CalWORKs or EASTBAY Works staff
      • Anything that documents your income (check stubs, letters from EHSD, tax returns if your income hasn't changed from last year, and so forth)
      • Your resume if you have one, or Information on previous employment
    • Meet with staff to review your application. In this meeting, you'll be scheduled for a reading assessment and a longer interview.
    • Complete the process. Complete a reading assessment and a personal interview. If you can't come at the scheduled time, call to re-schedule.
    • You'll hear from us! Space in the Job Training and Placement Program is limited. We'll notify you by mail regarding acceptance or non-acceptance. Letters go out on May 21, so you should receive your letter no later than May 26.
