Our response to Covid-19 Message from Alissa Friedman, President and CEO:

I send you my best wishes during this medical and economic crisis. We surveyed recent graduates of our employment programs this week, and the responses broke my heart. More than half were struggling. Many had lost hours or been laid off entirely. Some were at risk of losing their housing. Others were concerned about the health of vulnerable loved ones.

At Opportunity Junction, we can help address the immediate and longer-term economic suffering of our East Contra Costa community. Effective immediately, we offer our assistance to current clients and other local residents to:

  • Help them understand the new expansion of Unemployment Insurance and apply for benefits;
  • File 2019 taxes, even if they do not need to pay, so that they can qualify for the stimulus.

For help with unemployment insurance, call Kaylan Billeci at 925-331-0761 or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

For help with 2019 taxes, email Ja’Nae Craig at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or try filing them on your own at https://www.getyourrefund.org.

Longer term, our job training and career counseling program will be there to help our community rebound from this shock. With 3.3 million jobless claims filed just last week, we will need all of your help and partnership to start us back on a path to normalcy.
